I DON’T BELIEVE IN MONEY RITUALS, WITCHCRAFT MOVIES ARE UNREALISTIC’ — SUNNY ALLI
Veteran Yoruba actor Sunny Alli has dismissed the belief in money rituals, stating that many witchcraft-themed movies produced in Nollywood are unrealistic and should not be taken as a reflection of real life.
Speaking in a recent interview, the actor said the supernatural elements often portrayed in films are largely fictional and created to entertain audiences rather than depict reality.
According to Alli, while movies are a powerful form of storytelling, viewers should be able to distinguish between fiction and real-life experiences.
He expressed concern that the increasing popularity of ritual-themed movies has led some people to wrongly believe that such practices are common or guaranteed paths to wealth.
“I don’t believe in money rituals,” the veteran actor said, adding that many of the witchcraft scenes shown in movies are exaggerated for dramatic effect.
Alli stressed that success comes through hard work, perseverance, and dedication rather than supernatural means. He also encouraged filmmakers to produce stories that inspire positive values while remaining entertaining.
The actor, who has spent decades in the Yoruba movie industry, reaffirmed his commitment to creating meaningful content that educates, entertains, and promotes moral values.
His comments have sparked fresh conversations about the influence of Nollywood on public perception and the growing prevalence of ritual-themed storylines in Nigerian films.
