Delta State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, has explained why politician Ned Nwoko reportedly lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election to former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Speaking on the outcome of the primary, Aniagwu stated that political structure, grassroots support and established influence within the party played major roles in determining the result.
According to him, Okowa’s political experience and longstanding relationship with party stakeholders gave him an advantage during the contest.
Aniagwu also suggested that political popularity on social media does not always translate into actual support within party structures and delegate systems.
The comments have generated reactions among supporters of both politicians, with debates continuing over the conduct and outcome of the APC primary election in Delta State.
Political observers say the development reflects the intense competition and strategic alignments currently shaping Delta politics ahead of future elections.
Analysts believe the APC primaries in Delta have further exposed rivalries and power struggles among influential political figures within the state.
Supporters of Nwoko have continued to question aspects of the primary process, while loyalists of Okowa insist the outcome reflected the will of party delegates.
The APC leadership is expected to continue reconciliation efforts aimed at strengthening party unity following the primaries.
