Teachers and residents in Oyo and Ogun states have taken to the streets in protest over the rising cases of school abductions across Nigeria.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) today began a nationwide rally, demanding the immediate rescue and release of abducted pupils and teachers, while calling on the Federal Government to strengthen security around schools.

Protesters described the attacks as heartbreaking and unacceptable, warning that the safety of students and teachers can no longer be ignored.
