REPS ORDER IG TO PRODUCE ‘FAKE’ AGENCY DG ADEYEMI WITHIN 48 HOURS

The House of Representatives has directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi Adeniyi, described as the self-acclaimed Director-General of an alleged illegal agency, within 48 hours.
The directive followed concerns raised by lawmakers over the operations of the organisation, which they said has been presenting itself as a government agency without legal backing.
Members of the House expressed concern over reports that the group may have misled members of the public by claiming official status, prompting calls for a thorough investigation into its activities.
Lawmakers instructed the police to ensure Adeniyi appears before the appropriate authorities to answer questions regarding the agency’s operations, legal status, and activities.
The House also stressed the need to protect Nigerians from individuals or organisations allegedly operating outside the law while falsely presenting themselves as government institutions.
The lawmakers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening oversight and ensuring that only duly established agencies carry out public functions in the country.
The Inspector-General of Police is expected to comply with the directive as investigations into the matter continue.
