OYO DEPUTY GOV UNVEILS NEW LG CHAIRMAN’S OFFICE

Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, has commissioned the newly constructed office complex for the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Sikiru Sanda.

The commissioning took place on Friday at the Egbeda Local Government Secretariat in Ibadan, where Lawal also presented awards to former chairmen of the council.

Lawal said Egbeda was strategically positioned for accelerated development, citing major projects underway in and around the council, including the Ibadan Circular Road, the Air Force Base in Ajia and the Ajoda Housing Estate.

The deputy governor said the projects would transform the area and place Egbeda at the centre of emerging development corridors in Oyo State.

He also appealed to residents and property owners affected by the Circular Road project to support the development, assuring them that those whose properties were demolished would be compensated in line with the overriding public interest.

Sanda described the new office complex as a lasting legacy of his administration and disclosed that the project was funded through the council’s internally generated revenue. He thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for providing an enabling environment for local governments to implement development projects.

The event was attended by government officials, traditional and religious leaders, lawmakers, former council chairmen and other dignitaries.
