I DIDN’T ATTACK ANYONE, ONLY ASKED SOUTH-EAST TO VOTE TINUBU — UMAHI

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has denied allegations that he attacked supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, insisting that his recent remarks were directed at encouraging people of the South-East to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Umahi said he merely presented what he described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration in the South-East, arguing that the region should consider continuity based on ongoing infrastructure and development projects.
According to the minister, his comments were not intended to insult, provoke, or target any individual or political group, but to encourage informed political choices ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He maintained that every Nigerian has the constitutional right to support any political party or candidate, adding that his appeal to South-East voters was based on his personal convictions and assessment of the administration’s performance.
Umahi also urged political leaders and their supporters to engage in issue-based campaigns rather than personal attacks, stressing the need for peaceful political participation and national unity.
The minister reaffirmed his confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, saying ongoing federal projects across the South-East demonstrate the administration’s commitment to the region’s development.
He called on Nigerians to maintain mutual respect despite political differences and to work together in promoting peaceful elections and national progress.
