The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it surpassed its 2025 revenue target by 10.24 per cent, generating ₦7.28 trillion despite granting significant tax waivers and fiscal incentives.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, said the impressive performance reflects the service’s commitment to improving revenue collection through enhanced enforcement, trade facilitation, and the deployment of technology.
According to the Customs boss, the agency achieved the milestone while implementing government-approved tax waivers and concessions aimed at supporting key sectors of the economy and promoting economic growth.
He noted that reforms introduced by the service have strengthened compliance, reduced revenue leakages, and improved operational efficiency across Nigeria’s ports and border stations.
Adeniyi also highlighted the agency’s continued efforts to combat smuggling, facilitate legitimate trade, and enhance border security as part of its broader mandate.
The Comptroller-General reaffirmed the NCS’s commitment to sustaining revenue growth while balancing trade facilitation with national economic objectives.
He expressed optimism that ongoing reforms and improved collaboration with stakeholders would further strengthen customs operations and contribute to Nigeria’s fiscal stability.
