EKITI APPROVES MILITARY BASE FOR BORDER COMMUNITY

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved the establishment of a military base in Eda Oniyo, a border community in Ilejemeje Local Government Area, following recent security attacks in the area.
The governor said the decision is aimed at strengthening security, protecting residents, and preventing further attacks by criminal elements operating around the state’s border communities.
According to the state government, the military base will enhance the presence of security personnel, improve surveillance, and enable faster responses to security threats within the affected communities.
Oyebanji assured residents that his administration remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that security remains a top priority of the government.
He also directed security agencies to intensify patrols and strengthen collaboration with local vigilante groups, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure lasting peace in the area.
The governor urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies to support efforts aimed at tackling crime and maintaining law and order.
The approval of the military base forms part of the Ekiti State Government’s broader strategy to reinforce security across the state and ensure that communities, particularly those along border areas, remain safe for residents and economic activities.
