195 ENUGU VEHICLE OWNERS FACE PROSECUTION OVER NUMBER PLATE VIOLATIONS
No fewer than 195 vehicle owners in Enugu State are set to face prosecution following a statewide enforcement operation targeting number plate violations.
The exercise, carried out by the police and other relevant authorities, led to the impoundment of several vehicles found to be operating with illegal, covered, defaced, or improperly displayed number plates.
According to the police, the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security, curb criminal activities, and ensure compliance with traffic and vehicle registration regulations across the state.
Authorities said the affected vehicle owners would be prosecuted in accordance with existing laws governing vehicle identification and road safety.
The police warned motorists against using fake, altered, concealed, or unregistered number plates, stressing that such violations hinder crime prevention and investigations.
They urged vehicle owners to ensure their registration documents and number plates comply with legal requirements to avoid sanctions.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained enforcement operations aimed at improving public safety and maintaining law and order throughout Enugu State.
