The Ogun State Government has intensified efforts to address persistent power challenges through a new electricity initiative aimed at delivering stable 24-hour power supply to parts of the state.
Officials say the project involves the development of independent power plants and strategic partnerships designed to improve electricity generation and distribution across key areas.
According to the government, the initiative forms part of broader plans to boost industrial growth, attract investors and improve living conditions for residents and businesses.
Authorities explained that reliable electricity remains critical to economic productivity, job creation and infrastructure development, especially in industrial hubs within Ogun State.
The project is expected to support factories, commercial centres, healthcare facilities and residential communities currently affected by unstable public power supply.
State officials also noted that the move aligns with ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s electricity sector, which increasingly allow subnational governments and private investors to participate in power generation and distribution.
Analysts believe Ogun’s industrial strength and proximity to Lagos make stable electricity supply particularly important for sustaining economic activities and attracting further investment.
Residents and business owners have welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that improved power supply would reduce dependence on generators and lower operating costs.
The Ogun State Government reaffirmed its commitment to infrastructure development and policies aimed at improving economic growth and quality of life within the state.
