TINUBU ORDERS FORENSIC AUDIT OF IPPIS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, to oversee a comprehensive forensic audit of Federal Government payroll systems, including the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
The directive is aimed at identifying and eliminating ghost workers and other irregularities within the government payroll system.
The audit is expected to examine personnel records, payroll processes and related government systems to identify discrepancies and prevent the payment of public funds to fictitious or unqualified beneficiaries.
The move is part of broader efforts by the Tinubu administration to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency in the management of government finances.
The government is also expected to use the findings to strengthen payroll controls and ensure that public funds are directed to legitimate employees and government programmes.
The forensic exercise could also help uncover cases of multiple payments, inactive employees remaining on payroll and other forms of financial leakage.
Oyedele will coordinate the exercise and work with relevant government agencies to ensure that the audit is comprehensive.
The administration has continued to emphasise the need to block financial leakages and improve the efficiency of government spending.
