Fresh outrage has erupted across parts of the country after candidates sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) were reportedly forced to continue writing papers late into the night.
Concerned parents and guardians protested the development, describing the situation as stressful, unsafe, and unfair to students already facing the pressure of external examinations.
Many parents questioned why examination schedules continue to run beyond normal hours, warning that the trend could affect candidates’ performance and well-being.
Responding to the concerns, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) acknowledged the challenges and assured stakeholders that efforts are being made to address the situation and prevent future occurrences.
The examination body attributed the delays to operational and logistical issues, while promising that corrective measures are being implemented to ensure smoother conduct of subsequent papers.
The development has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians calling for urgent reforms to protect students from unnecessary hardship during examinations.
