OBI PLEDGES TO RETAIN TINUBU’S NAIRA FLOAT POLICY IF ELECTED
Former Anambra State Governor and 2027 presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has said he would retain President Bola Tinubu’s naira float policy if elected president in 2027.
Obi said he would, however, focus on increasing productivity and strengthening the country’s productive capacity to support the value of the naira.
The former governor said the focus should be on policies that encourage production, create jobs and increase the country’s ability to generate wealth rather than relying heavily on imports.
He argued that a stronger economy and higher domestic productivity would provide better support for the naira and improve the country’s economic position.
Obi’s position comes as political parties and presidential hopefuls continue to outline their economic plans ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former governor is expected to provide further details of his economic agenda as political activities and preparations for the 2027 election intensify.
