LET TINUBU, DEFENCE MINISTER TRAVEL WITHOUT ESCORTS — APM

The African Peoples Movement (APM) has challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Defence to travel across the country without security escorts as a way of demonstrating confidence in the government’s handling of insecurity.
The party made the call while commenting on the security situation in Nigeria, where concerns over attacks, kidnappings and other forms of insecurity continue to dominate national discussions.
The APM argued that if the government is confident that security has significantly improved, the country’s leadership should be willing to experience the situation faced by ordinary Nigerians.
The party’s position comes amid growing public concern over insecurity in different parts of the country and renewed calls for stronger measures to protect citizens.
The APM urged the government to prioritise the safety of Nigerians and take concrete steps to restore confidence in the country’s security system.
The party maintained that political leaders should not be shielded from the realities facing ordinary citizens, particularly when assessing the effectiveness of security measures.
