IT’S NOT APC’S FAULT PDP DIDN’T ZONE PRESIDENCY TO SOUTH-EAST’ — ANYIM
Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim has said the All Progressives Congress, APC, should not be blamed for the Peoples Democratic Party’s decision not to zone its presidential ticket to the South-East.
Anyim, who recently moved from the PDP to the APC, said his political experience had shown him that politicians from the South-East would need to build alliances with other regions to pursue the presidency successfully.
He explained that his decision to join the APC was influenced by his belief that the party could provide a broader platform for building the cross-regional alliances he considers necessary for the South-East’s political aspirations.
Anyim also expressed his view that the presidency should continue to rotate among Nigeria’s geopolitical regions. He said President Bola Tinubu should complete a second term, after which the office should move to the North before eventually returning to the South-East.
The former Senate President had previously advocated for the PDP to zone its presidential ticket to the South-East ahead of the 2023 election. At the time, he was among South-East PDP presidential aspirants who called for the party to consider the region for its ticket.
