A Labour Party chieftain, Abayomi Arabambi, has sued the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) over the academic credentials of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi.
Arabambi is seeking an order compelling the three institutions to release documents relating to Obi’s academic qualifications and records.
The suit comes amid renewed public interest in the educational credentials of the former governor, who is expected to be a major political figure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Arabambi is asking the court to direct WAEC, UNN and NYSC to provide the relevant records, which he says are necessary to clarify issues surrounding Obi’s academic history.
The case places the institutions under legal pressure to respond to the request, while the court is expected to determine whether the requested records should be released.
The matter is now before the court, with further developments expected as proceedings continue.
