Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has declared that the government is stronger than bandits and will not negotiate or enter into peace agreements with criminal groups terrorising communities across the state.
The governor maintained that lasting peace can only be achieved through decisive security measures, justice, and the restoration of government authority in affected areas.
According to Lawal, previous attempts at negotiating with bandits have failed to produce sustainable results, with many criminal groups returning to violent activities despite peace arrangements.
He stressed that his administration remains committed to supporting security agencies in ongoing operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks, rescuing victims, and restoring normalcy to troubled communities.
The governor also reassured residents that efforts are being intensified to improve intelligence gathering, strengthen local security structures, and protect lives and property.
Lawal urged citizens to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing useful information that could help in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities.
His remarks come amid renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of the North-West, where authorities continue to confront bandit attacks, kidnappings, and other security challenges.
