The Federal Government has urged state governments across Nigeria to develop and adopt homegrown anti-corruption strategies to strengthen transparency, accountability and public service delivery.
The government said state-specific approaches would help address corruption risks based on the unique challenges and realities of each state.
It stressed the need for stronger systems that promote accountability and ensure public resources are used effectively for the benefit of citizens.
The Federal Government also encouraged states to strengthen institutions, improve monitoring mechanisms and promote transparency in the management of public funds.
It said effective anti-corruption measures would not only reduce financial leakages but also improve citizens’ confidence in government and public institutions.
The call comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s fight against corruption at both federal and state levels.
The government urged state authorities to work with relevant stakeholders and adopt practical measures that can produce measurable improvements in governance.
