The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting science-led agriculture as a key strategy for achieving food security and transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
Government officials said greater investment in agricultural research, innovation, and technology is essential to boosting food production, improving productivity, and building resilient agrifood systems across the country.
The administration stressed the importance of adopting climate-smart farming practices, improved crop varieties, and modern technologies to help farmers increase yields and reduce post-harvest losses.
It also called for stronger collaboration among governments, research institutions, universities, development partners, and the private sector to accelerate innovation in agriculture.
According to the government, empowering farmers with scientific knowledge, improved extension services, and access to modern farming techniques will enhance food availability and strengthen rural livelihoods.
Officials noted that science-driven agriculture will also support job creation, economic growth, and sustainable development while helping Nigeria respond to the challenges of climate change and population growth.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its determination to continue supporting policies and initiatives that encourage innovation, research, and technology-driven solutions to ensure long-term food security for Nigeria and the African continent.
