FAYEMI URGES FG TO IMPROVE DOCTORS’ WELFARE
Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has urged the Federal Government to improve doctors’ salaries, welfare packages and working conditions to tackle the growing challenge of brain drain in Nigeria’s health sector.
Fayemi stressed the need for better remuneration and a more supportive working environment to encourage medical professionals to remain in the country rather than seek opportunities abroad.
The continued migration of Nigerian doctors has raised concerns about staffing shortages and the pressure on hospitals, particularly as healthcare facilities struggle to retain experienced professionals.
Improving doctors’ welfare, alongside strengthening healthcare infrastructure and providing better career opportunities, could help make working in Nigeria more attractive to medical practitioners.
Fayemi’s appeal adds to calls for urgent measures to strengthen the health sector and ensure Nigerians have access to quality healthcare.
