Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee member, Aisha Falode, has expressed confidence that the Super Falcons will recover strongly from their recent defeat to Malawi at the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Speaking after the unexpected loss, Falode described the result as a temporary setback, insisting it does not reflect the true quality or fighting spirit of the Nigerian women’s national team.
She urged the players to remain focused and learn from their mistakes, noting that every successful team experiences difficult moments but is judged by how it responds to adversity.
Falode also appealed to Nigerians not to lose faith in the Super Falcons, emphasizing that the team has consistently demonstrated resilience over the years and has repeatedly bounced back from challenging situations to achieve success.
According to her, the coaching crew and players have the experience and determination needed to turn things around as the tournament progresses and remain competitive in the race for continental glory.
She added that the support of Nigerians would play a vital role in motivating the team, encouraging fans to continue standing behind the players despite the disappointing result against Malawi.
Falode expressed optimism that the Super Falcons have what it takes to respond positively in their remaining matches and continue their quest for another Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.
