EKITI PDP, APM MOBILISE FOR MAKINDE’S PRESIDENTIAL BID

Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ekiti State have begun mobilising grassroots support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The groups are reportedly positioning Makinde as a potential alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), with supporters highlighting his experience in governance and his record in Oyo State.
The mobilisation is expected to involve consultations with party leaders, community stakeholders and grassroots supporters across Ekiti.
Supporters backing the governor’s ambition said Nigeria needs credible leadership capable of addressing the country’s economic and security challenges.
The development comes amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with opposition figures and groups exploring possible alliances to challenge the APC.
Makinde, a prominent PDP figure and two-term governor of Oyo State, has increasingly featured in discussions about possible presidential contenders for 2027.
The Ekiti mobilisation is expected to intensify discussions about the governor’s political future and the possibility of broader opposition cooperation ahead of the election.
