The Federal Government has flagged off the distribution of emergency obstetric and newborn healthcare equipment, medical commodities, and delivery kits worth ₦10 billion to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services in Bauchi State.
The intervention is aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and newborns, while reducing maternal and infant mortality across the state.
According to government officials, the equipment and medical supplies will be distributed to healthcare facilities to enhance emergency obstetric care, safe childbirth, and the management of pregnancy-related complications.
The initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s broader commitment to strengthening primary healthcare and ensuring that women and children receive timely, quality medical services.
Officials said the intervention would also improve the capacity of healthcare workers, enhance service delivery, and ensure health facilities are better equipped to handle emergencies involving mothers and newborns.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to investing in the health sector through strategic interventions that improve healthcare infrastructure and expand access to life-saving services across the country.
The ₦10 billion programme is expected to significantly boost maternal and newborn healthcare outcomes in Bauchi State and contribute to national efforts to reduce preventable deaths.
