RESIGN OR SHELVE RE-ELECTION BID OVER INSECURITY, PETER OBI TELLS TINUBU
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged President Bola Tinubu to either resign from office or abandon his 2027 re-election ambition, citing what he described as the administration’s inability to effectively tackle Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
Obi said the persistent wave of killings, kidnappings, and violent attacks across the country has left many Nigerians living in fear, arguing that addressing insecurity should be the government’s foremost priority.
According to him, the continued deterioration of the security situation calls for urgent and decisive leadership, stressing that public safety must take precedence over political ambitions.
The former Anambra State governor maintained that any government unable to guarantee the protection of lives and property should be held accountable for its performance.
He called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to combat insecurity through improved intelligence gathering, stronger support for security agencies, and greater collaboration with local communities.
Obi also urged leaders at all levels to focus on governance and practical solutions that would restore peace, rebuild public confidence, and create a safer environment for all Nigerians.
His remarks have added to the growing political debate over the country’s security challenges as preparations for the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum.
