AKPABIO THREATENS TO SUE CONTRACTOR OVER FAULTY N’ASSEMBLY MICROPHONES
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has threatened legal action against the contractor responsible for renovating the National Assembly complex over the persistent malfunctioning of microphones in the Senate chamber.
Akpabio expressed his displeasure during a plenary session after repeated technical failures disrupted proceedings, describing the situation as unacceptable despite the huge public funds spent on the renovation.
He questioned the quality of work carried out by the contractor and insisted that taxpayers deserve value for money on government projects.
According to the Senate President, the faulty audio system has continued to hamper legislative activities and must be fixed without delay.
Akpabio warned that if the contractor fails to rectify the defects, the National Assembly would explore legal options to ensure accountability and recover public funds where necessary.
He also directed the relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the project and ensure that those responsible for any substandard work are held accountable.
The incident has reignited public discussions on the need for stricter oversight, quality assurance, and transparency in the execution of government contracts across the country.
