AKPABIO PETITIONS DSS OVER ANTI-NORTH STATEMENT

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) over a statement circulating on social media that he said was falsely attributed to him.
The statement, which was widely circulated online, contained comments portrayed as being against people from Northern Nigeria.
Akpabio said the statement was fake and urged the DSS to investigate its origin and those responsible for creating and circulating it.
The petition comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with social media increasingly being used to circulate political statements and claims involving prominent public figures.
The Senate President’s action seeks to establish the source of the disputed statement and identify those responsible for its circulation.
The DSS is expected to examine the complaint and determine the circumstances surrounding the creation and distribution of the alleged fake statement.
