Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has launched a free health insurance scheme for traditional rulers and their queens, as part of efforts to expand access to quality healthcare across the state.
Speaking at the unveiling, Adeleke said the initiative underscores his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of traditional institutions while strengthening the state’s healthcare system.
The governor disclosed that more than 200 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) have been rehabilitated under his administration to improve access to essential health services, particularly in rural communities.
According to him, the upgraded health facilities have enhanced the delivery of maternal and child healthcare, immunisation, emergency services, and other primary healthcare interventions.
Adeleke noted that the health insurance scheme will enable monarchs and their spouses to receive quality medical care without financial hardship, while also complementing broader healthcare reforms in the state.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in healthcare infrastructure, expanding health insurance coverage, and ensuring that residents have access to affordable and efficient medical services.
The governor also commended traditional rulers for their continued support in promoting public health initiatives and community development across Osun State.
