FIFA President Gianni Infantino is set to stand for re-election as the head of world football’s governing body, with the election scheduled for March.

Infantino, who has led FIFA since 2016, is seeking another term as he looks to continue overseeing the organisation and its global football programmes.

His tenure has included major changes to FIFA competitions and the expansion of the FIFA World Cup, alongside efforts to increase revenues and investment in football development around the world.

However, his time in office has also attracted controversy and criticism, particularly over FIFA’s governance, financial decisions and some of the reforms introduced under his leadership.

Infantino’s re-election bid will therefore come as FIFA prepares to decide whether he should remain in charge of the organisation for another term.

The March election will determine the leadership of FIFA as the governing body continues to shape the future of international football.
