The Federal Government has commenced construction of a 120-megavolt-ampere (120MVA) power substation in Mashi Local Government Area of Katsina State to improve electricity transmission and support economic activities.

The project is expected to strengthen the electricity infrastructure serving the area and improve the capacity of the transmission network to handle power supply demands.

Improved transmission infrastructure can help reduce pressure on existing facilities and support electricity distribution to homes, businesses and public institutions. Reliable electricity is also important for small businesses, commercial activities and local industries.

The project forms part of efforts to expand and strengthen Nigeria’s power infrastructure, particularly in communities where improved transmission capacity is needed.

However, the actual impact on electricity supply will depend on the project’s completion, connection to the wider power network and the capacity of distribution infrastructure to deliver electricity to consumers.

Further details on the project’s cost, completion date and the number of communities expected to benefit were not provided in the information available.
