SOKOTO AWARDS CONTRACTS FOR 1,365KM RURAL ROADS — OFFICIAL

The Sokoto State Government has awarded contracts for the construction and rehabilitation of 1,365 kilometres of rural roads across the state.
A government official disclosed the development, saying the road projects are aimed at improving connectivity between rural communities and opening up access to agricultural areas and markets.
The government said an additional 530 kilometres of rural roads have also been identified for possible development.
According to the official, the projects are expected to support farmers by making it easier to transport agricultural produce from rural communities to markets, while also improving movement of people and goods.
The expansion of rural road infrastructure is expected to boost economic activities in communities across Sokoto State and strengthen links between farming areas and major commercial centres.
The government said the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to improve infrastructure and stimulate economic development, particularly in rural areas.
If completed as planned, the projects could significantly improve transportation in remote communities and provide better access to markets, farms and essential services across the state.
