APC PRIMARY DISPUTES DRIVEN BY AMBITION, NOT PEOPLE’S INTEREST — EX-GOV ASPIRANT
A former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Kwara State has said that many of the disputes arising from the party’s primary elections are motivated by personal ambition rather than the interest of the people.
The former aspirant expressed concern over the growing internal disagreements within the party, noting that political actors should prioritise service to the public over individual aspirations.
According to him, excessive focus on personal political ambitions often undermines party unity, distracts from governance, and weakens public confidence in the democratic process.
He urged APC members and leaders to embrace dialogue, reconciliation, and internal democracy in resolving disputes ahead of future elections.
The politician stressed that political parties should remain focused on delivering good governance and policies that improve the lives of citizens instead of allowing internal rivalries to dominate their agenda.
He also called on party stakeholders to place the collective interest of the APC above personal considerations, warning that unresolved conflicts could affect the party’s electoral prospects.
The remarks come amid ongoing discussions over party primaries and preparations for the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders advocating greater unity and transparency within political parties.
