Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has inaugurated a new healthcare facility known as Southward Hospital in the Kabba/Bunu area, aimed at improving access to quality medical services for residents.

The facility is equipped with modern diagnostic tools, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scan equipment, which officials say will enhance early detection and treatment of various health conditions.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the governor described the project as part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for specialised medical care.

Ododo also emphasised the importance of investing in human capital development, noting that improved healthcare services are essential for social well-being and economic productivity. He urged health workers at the facility to uphold professional standards and ensure efficient service delivery.

Community leaders and residents welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the hospital would contribute to better health outcomes and support emergency response capabilities in the region.

Health sector observers say sustained investment in medical infrastructure and personnel training will be key to ensuring the long-term effectiveness of such initiatives.
