Pastor Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on parents, churches and other stakeholders to take greater responsibility for raising children with godly values and good character.

She made the call on Thursday, November 5, during the annual summit of Christ the Redeemer’s School Management (CRSM), held at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Speaking in her welcome address titled “The Mandate of Kingdom Education in National Transformation,” Adeboye stressed that the responsibility of raising responsible children begins at home.

She urged parents to train their children properly, work closely with teachers and avoid over-pampering them, particularly during school holidays.

According to her, children must be taught to fear God, respect their teachers and embrace discipline, adding that parents should not shy away from correcting their children when necessary.

Adeboye also called on churches to teach sound biblical doctrines and urged children to obey their parents.

She warned that poor upbringing and irresponsible leadership could create room for corruption, criminality and other social vices.

On the role of government, she called for improved educational facilities, particularly in rural communities, where some pupils still sit on the floor because of inadequate classroom furniture.

She emphasised that no child should be considered useless, stressing that every child has the potential to achieve greatness if properly nurtured.

Former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, who delivered the keynote address, also highlighted the importance of building children’s character, competence and capacity.

She expressed concern over Nigeria’s education challenges, particularly the growing number of out-of-school children, and urged Christians to demonstrate the values they profess.

The summit, themed “Revisiting Kingdom Education: The Role of Stakeholders,” brought together educators, school administrators, church leaders and other professionals to discuss how education can shape responsible citizens and contribute to national development.

Adeboye maintained that parents, schools, churches and government must work together to give children the moral and educational foundation needed for a better society.
