Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has celebrated three years in office with a rundown of his administration’s achievements, including the construction of new roads, renovation of hospitals, and the establishment of farm settlements aimed at boosting food production and job creation across the state.
Speaking at an anniversary event in Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji said his government’s focus on infrastructure, agriculture, and healthcare had transformed rural communities and strengthened the local economy. He added that several township roads had been completed, while others were ongoing, alongside efforts to improve water supply and education facilities.
The governor also pointed to investments in the state’s agricultural sector, noting that the new farm settlements would create opportunities for young farmers and reduce reliance on imported food. “Our goal is to make Ekiti a productive state, not a consuming one,” he said.
However, opposition parties have downplayed the administration’s performance, arguing that the state still grapples with unemployment, poor power supply, and unpaid arrears. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) described the celebration as “self-praise,” insisting that most of the projects were either inherited or incomplete.
Despite the criticism, Oyebanji reaffirmed his commitment to finishing ongoing projects and ensuring transparency in governance. He urged residents to remain patient and continue supporting his administration’s development drive.
