Former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of a naval base and deep seaport in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state.
Daniel described the development as a monumental step towards enhancing national security, stimulating economic activities, and unlocking the maritime potential of the Ogun coastline.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the former governor noted that the projects will not only strengthen the country’s naval operations in the South-West but also create massive employment opportunities for residents of Ogun State and beyond.
According to him, the approval reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to balanced development across the federation and his recognition of Ogun State’s strategic importance in national growth.
Daniel lauded the collaborative efforts between the Nigerian Navy and the Ogun State Government, emphasizing that the naval base and deep seaport will transform the state into a hub for maritime trade, logistics, and industrial investment.
He further urged the people of Ogun State to support the federal government’s vision, assuring that the project will bring about significant socio-economic advancement for communities within and around the Ogun Waterside axis.
