Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has challenged claims surrounding the political forces behind Muhammadu Buhari’s emergence as president in 2015, insisting that he played the major role in the political struggle that brought Buhari to power.
Speaking during a political gathering, Amaechi reportedly directed his remarks at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that he was deeply involved in the campaign battles and coalition-building efforts that secured victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.
According to the former Rivers State governor, he actively mobilised political support and fought key political battles during the election period, making significant sacrifices for the party’s success.
Amaechi’s comments have generated fresh reactions within political circles, especially as conversations around political influence, loyalty and succession continue ahead of the 2027 elections.
