The Alaafin of Oyo has called for a more holistic and coordinated approach to intelligence gathering following the recent school attack in Oyo State that left many families and residents traumatised.
Reacting to the incident, the traditional ruler expressed deep concern over the growing insecurity affecting communities and educational institutions across the country.
According to the Alaafin, tackling insecurity requires stronger collaboration among security agencies, local communities, traditional institutions and intelligence networks.
He stressed that effective intelligence gathering and early warning systems remain essential in preventing attacks and protecting lives.
The monarch also urged the government to invest more in community-based security structures and modern intelligence technology capable of detecting threats before they escalate.
The call comes amid widespread outrage and concern following the school attack, which has renewed fears about the safety of students and educational facilities in Nigeria.
Residents and parents have continued to demand urgent action from authorities to improve security and prevent future attacks on schools.
Security experts say intelligence failures, poor coordination and delayed response mechanisms often contribute to the success of criminal operations in vulnerable communities.
