The President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) has expressed confidence that the country’s athletes will perform strongly at the upcoming African Taekwondo Championship in Mali.
According to the federation boss, preparations for the tournament have been encouraging, with athletes showing high levels of commitment, discipline and readiness ahead of the continental competition.
He attributed the team’s optimism to improved government support, better training opportunities and the emergence of promising young talents within Nigeria’s taekwondo system.
The NTF president also noted that the federation has intensified efforts to strengthen technical development and expose athletes to more competitive environments.
Nigeria’s taekwondo team is expected to compete against top athletes from across Africa in various weight categories during the championship.
Sports analysts say the tournament presents another opportunity for Nigerian athletes to improve their rankings, gain international experience and strengthen the country’s reputation in combat sports.
The federation also expressed hope that a strong outing in Mali would inspire more youth participation in taekwondo and other sporting activities nationwide.
Officials stressed the importance of continued investment in sports development, infrastructure and athlete welfare to sustain progress in international competitions.
Nigeria has produced several notable taekwondo athletes over the years and remains one of the active participants in African martial arts competitions.
