Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that some individuals once warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against wearing clothes he gifted him, alleging that the outfits were spiritually charmed to harm him.
Shettima made the disclosure while speaking at a public event, describing the claims as an example of the level of suspicion and political intrigue often associated with Nigerian politics.
According to the Vice President, despite the warnings and allegations, Tinubu ignored the advice and maintained trust and confidence in him.
Shettima said the incident reflected the strong relationship and mutual understanding that existed between both leaders long before they assumed office as President and Vice President.
The remarks have generated reactions across political and social circles, with many Nigerians debating the influence of superstition, distrust and political rivalry within the countryโ€™s political environment.
Political observers say such stories highlight the intense atmosphere and internal tensions that sometimes surround high-level political relationships and power structures.
Supporters of the administration described the revelation as evidence of loyalty and trust between Tinubu and Shettima despite attempts to create suspicion between them.
The Vice President did not mention the identities of those who allegedly made the warnings or when the incident specifically occurred.
The comments have since sparked widespread discussions on social media and within political circles nationwide.
