𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝗧𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲: 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝗹-𝗥𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗶 𝗡100𝗺 𝗕𝗮𝗶𝗹, 𝗦𝗲𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁

A court has granted former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, bail in the sum of N100 million over allegations linked to an alleged phone-tapping case.
As part of the bail conditions, the court also ordered the seizure of El-Rufai’s international passport pending the continuation of legal proceedings.
According to reports, the former governor appeared before the court to answer charges relating to alleged unlawful surveillance and interception activities.
The court ruled that El-Rufai must meet specified conditions, including providing sureties, before fully enjoying the bail granted.
Legal representatives of the former governor reportedly argued that he remains innocent until proven guilty and expressed readiness to defend him against the allegations.
The case has generated widespread political and legal reactions, given El-Rufai’s status as one of Nigeria’s prominent political figures and former governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Political observers say the development could further intensify political tensions and debates surrounding power struggles, alliances and accountability ahead of the 2027 elections.
Supporters of El-Rufai described the charges as politically motivated, while critics insist that due legal process should be allowed to take its course.
The court adjourned the matter to a later date for continuation of proceedings.
