Senator Iyiola Omisore, former Deputy Governor of Osun State and immediate past National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially become the first governorship aspirant to pick the party’s Nomination and Expression of Interest forms ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

Omisore obtained the forms on Wednesday, paying the required ₦50 million, signaling his intention to contest for the APC ticket. Political observers say his early move could give him a strategic advantage in the party’s primary.

The APC in Osun has yet to announce the timetable for its primaries, but Omisore’s early entry is expected to set the pace for other aspirants, many of whom are closely watching developments ahead of the party’s internal elections.

Omisore’s announcement marks the beginning of what promises to be a competitive race in Osun, with stakeholders anticipating a vibrant contest among key political figures in the state.
