Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has urged Africans living in the diaspora to actively support the promotion of credible elections, good governance, and democratic accountability across the continent.
Speaking during an engagement with members of the African diaspora, Obi said the contributions of Africans abroad extend beyond remittances, stressing that their voices and advocacy can help strengthen democratic institutions and promote transparency.
According to him, credible elections remain the foundation of sustainable development, economic progress, and political stability, making it essential for citizens both at home and abroad to remain engaged in governance.
Obi encouraged diaspora Africans to use their platforms and influence to advocate for electoral integrity, accountability, and policies that improve the welfare of citizens.
He also urged young Africans to participate peacefully in the democratic process and support initiatives that promote justice, fairness, and responsible leadership.
The former Anambra State governor noted that collective efforts by citizens, civil society organisations, and the international community are vital to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections across Africa.
Obi reaffirmed his commitment to promoting democratic values and called for stronger collaboration among Africans worldwide in building accountable governments and a more prosperous continent.
