WE CANNOT ACCEPT THIS TRAGIC CYCLE AS NORMAL,’ OBI CONDEMNS FRESH ATTACKS IN BENUE, PLATEAU
Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned the latest wave of deadly attacks in Benue and Plateau states, describing the continued bloodshed as unacceptable and a grave threat to national security.
In a statement, Obi expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost loved ones and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attacks.
He said Nigerians must not become accustomed to recurring violence, stressing that the repeated loss of innocent lives should never be accepted as a normal part of national life.
According to Obi, the Federal Government must adopt a more proactive, intelligence-driven approach to tackling insecurity, with greater emphasis on preventing attacks rather than merely responding after they occur.
He also called for improved coordination among security agencies, better intelligence gathering, and stronger protection for vulnerable communities across the country.
The former Anambra State governor urged authorities to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for the attacks, insisting that justice is essential to ending the cycle of violence.
Obi reaffirmed that protecting lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government and called on all stakeholders to work together to restore peace and security across Nigeria.
