TINUBU SOUNDS ALARM: LOCAL GOVERNANCE FAILURE DRIVING INSECURITY ACROSS NIGERIA
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has identified weaknesses in local governance as a major factor fueling insecurity in many parts of the country.
The President argued that when local institutions fail to effectively address community challenges, criminal elements exploit the vacuum, leading to increased cases of banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats.
According to Tinubu, strengthening governance at the grassroots level is essential to improving intelligence gathering, enhancing public service delivery, and responding swiftly to emerging security concerns.
He stressed that local leaders must take greater responsibility for community development, conflict resolution, and citizen engagement to prevent insecurity from taking root.
The President also called for stronger collaboration among federal, state, and local authorities, insisting that sustainable security can only be achieved through coordinated efforts at all levels of government.
His remarks come amid ongoing national discussions on security reforms, local government autonomy, and strategies for tackling persistent threats across the country.
