SHETTIMA LEADS ‘HIRE FROM NIGERIA’ DRIVE AT UNGA

Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading a Federal Government and private-sector effort to promote Nigerian talent and technology-enabled services to international employers on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The initiative, known as “Hire From Nigeria,” is designed to connect Nigerian professionals, skilled workers, digital experts, creatives and service providers with global employers and clients while enabling them to work from Nigeria.

Shettima is expected to deliver the keynote address at a side event themed “Impact Sourcing as a Driver of Global Trade and Inclusive Job Creation.” His address will focus on Nigeria’s positioning as an emerging outsourcing destination and the country’s role in the global services economy.

The campaign is being driven through a public-private partnership involving the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, the National Talent Export Programme, the Ministries of Education, Information and National Orientation, Labour and Employment and Foreign Affairs, alongside private-sector and development partners.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, said the initiative is intended to translate Nigeria’s large talent pool into greater participation in global trade, increased services exports and more job opportunities.

The New York engagement is expected to bring Nigerian officials, business and technology leaders together with international employers, investors and other partners to explore opportunities in outsourcing, hiring, services exports and investment. The government says the campaign will continue beyond UNGA with the aim of turning international interest in Nigerian talent into sustained commercial relationships and jobs.
