POLICE ARREST SIX SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, RECOVER GUNS IN AKWA IBOM
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested six suspected armed robbers, including a native doctor, allegedly involved in criminal activities across Ikono, Ini and Obot Akara Local Government Areas of the state.
The suspects were reportedly arrested during an operation by police operatives following intelligence on the activities of a robbery gang operating in the affected communities.
Police said firearms were recovered during the operation, adding that the arrests were part of efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve security across the state.
The command said the native doctor was among those arrested over alleged links to the gang and its activities.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to assist investigators in uncovering further information about the group and its operations.
The police said investigations are ongoing, while efforts are being made to identify and apprehend other suspects who may be connected to the gang.
