ONANUGA KNOCKS ATIKU OVER SILENCE ON RESCUED OYO PUPILS, HAILS OBI’S REACTION
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga has criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for what he described as his silence following the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
In a statement, Onanuga said the successful rescue of the victims was a significant achievement that deserved national recognition, expressing disappointment that Atiku had not publicly acknowledged the development.
He contrasted Atiku’s silence with the reaction of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, whom he commended for publicly welcoming the rescue and appreciating the efforts of security agencies.
According to Onanuga, issues relating to the safety of Nigerians should rise above partisan politics, urging political leaders to support positive developments regardless of political affiliations.
The presidential aide also praised the security agencies and the Oyo State Government for their coordinated efforts, which led to the safe release of the kidnapped pupils and teachers.
He maintained that the successful operation demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to combating insecurity and protecting the lives of citizens across the country.
The rescue of the victims has continued to attract reactions from political leaders and stakeholders, with renewed calls for sustained efforts to tackle kidnapping and other security challenges nationwide.
