The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for providing ₦12 billion in counterpart funding for basic education projects in the state.
The board said the payment has helped clear outstanding counterpart funding obligations accumulated over 13 years within seven years of the Abiodun administration.
According to SUBEB, the intervention has enabled the state to access and implement more basic education projects aimed at improving learning conditions for pupils across Ogun.
The board highlighted the governor’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, particularly through investments in school infrastructure and other initiatives designed to improve the quality of basic education.
SUBEB said the timely payment of counterpart funds would further support the state’s ability to benefit from intervention programmes and attract additional resources for the development of schools.
The board also praised the administration for prioritising education and urged stakeholders to continue supporting efforts to improve learning outcomes across the state.
The development is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to provide better facilities and a more conducive learning environment for pupils in Ogun State.
