JOIN APC, ALIGN OYO WITH CENTRE’ — TINUBU’S MINISTER TELLS MAKINDE

A minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has urged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) and align the state with the Federal Government.
The minister argued that such a political alignment would strengthen the relationship between Oyo State and the Federal Government and potentially create greater opportunities for the state.
The call comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with politicians across party lines reassessing their affiliations and alliances.
Makinde is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while the Federal Government is controlled by the APC.
The minister’s appeal has therefore fuelled further speculation about Makinde’s political plans ahead of 2027, particularly as discussions over possible defections and new political alliances continue across the country.
The governor has previously maintained his political independence and focused on the development of Oyo State, while his relationship with the Federal Government has remained a subject of political discussion.
The minister urged Makinde to consider the benefits of closer cooperation with the centre and make a political decision that would, in his view, serve the interests of Oyo State.
