The Kano State Government has clarified that its mass wedding programme, Auren Gata, is open to both Muslim and Christian couples who meet the eligibility requirements.
A government official said the initiative is designed to support low-income couples by easing the financial burden of marriage and promoting stable family life, regardless of religious affiliation.
According to the official, eligible participants receive support that may include marriage counselling, medical screening, and assistance with wedding expenses to help them begin married life on a solid foundation.
The government stressed that the programme is inclusive and intended to strengthen family values, reduce social challenges associated with delayed marriages, and promote peaceful coexistence among residents.
Officials also noted that the initiative forms part of the state’s broader social welfare agenda aimed at improving the well-being of vulnerable citizens.
Interested couples have been encouraged to register through the appropriate government channels and comply with the programme’s guidelines and screening process.
The clarification comes amid public interest in the scope and eligibility criteria of the Kano mass wedding scheme.
